The Amery City Council meets in regular session the first Wednesday each month at 5:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers at the Amery City Hall. All meetings are open to the public and they are encouraged to attend. If you are unable to attend the Council Meetings are video recorded and broadcast on Amery Telecom's Cable Channel. The meetings are also available on DVD and can be checked out at the Amery Public Library.
Mike Karuschak- Council President 2009
Michael Karuschak Jr. is board certified in Healthcare Administration and is a Fellow in the
AmericanCollege of Healthcare Executives. Mr. Karuschak is the Chief Executive Officer for
AmeryRegionalMedicalCenter, a position he has held since June 1987. Prior to his arrival in Amery, Mike worked at
Wisconsin from 1973 to 1987. During his employment at Northwest he held positions as the Assistant Administrator for Clinical Services, Assistant Administrator for Employee Relations and Personnel Director. Mike received his Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from
CentralMichiganUniversity and his Bachelor’s Degree in Management from the
Chicago. He has served on the Amery City Council since 2000 and is currently the Chair of the City’s Finance Committee.
David Myers retired in 2005, having provided psychological services to various public school districts in the area since 1974. Prior to that time, he served as a Physical Education instructor and coached football, basketball, and baseball in the Amery Public Schools. He, and his wife Rosemary, moved to Amery in 1959. David holds a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the University of Minnesota, and Master of Science in Educational Administration degree from the University of Minnesota, and a Master of Arts in School Psychology degree from the University of Wisconsin - Stout. He has served on the Amery City Council since 1995, and is currently Chair of the Public Welfare Committee, which includes Parks and Recreation.
My family moved to Amery in the late 1940’s. I grew up on
South Street, the best place in the world, with lots of neighbor kids and wonderful places to explore. I graduated from
AmeryHigh School and then attended the
PolkCountyTeachers College, onto UWRiver Falls, receiving a BS degree in Elementary Education. After several years, I returned to Amery in 1967 and continued my career in education,teaching 4th grade at Lien Elementary and later Lakeview Intermediate. I retired in 1999.
