City of Amery and School District of Amery
Traffic Calming Pop-up
May 1st – May 6th
The City of Amery and the School District of Amery are joining forces to make walking and biking to school safer and easier. During the week of May 1st, students and families are invited to test out a temporary pedestrian facility along Hillcrest Drive, and a temporary curb extension on Minneapolis Avenue. The event coincides with the National Walk and Bike to School Day taking place on May 3rd. This project has two goals: 1) increase the number of students walking and biking to school and 2) make the walk and bike routes to/from school safer.
During the week, the city, with help from the West Central Regional Planning Commission, will use cones and other barrier items to designate an area along Hillcrest that is separate from vehicle traffic. In addition, cones will also be used to designate a safer crossing on Minneapolis.
From May 1st through May 6th, the City and the School District would like to invite you and your family to participate in the pop-up pedestrian lane while walking and biking to school. Wednesday, May 3rd is Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day and it is encouraged to walk, bike, or roll to school this day!
